You’re Already Ranking. So Why Aren’t They Getting Clicks?

The Search Click Waste Test

The 30-minute test for pages that get impressions but not enough of the right clicks.

Hey humans!

You might not need more rankings.

Sometimes Google is already showing your pages to potential buyers. They see your result, choose someone else, and the team responds by planning another 20 articles.

This week, the goal is to find the pages worth fixing before you start changing the rest of the site.

Today’s Playbook

Quickies:

  • Stop copying competitor content when what’s missing is proof
  • Stop treating traffic as a win before it turns into revenue

📋 Mini-Playbook: The Search Click Waste Test

[FOR YOUR TEAM] Give this to whoever manages Search Console and your revenue dashboard. Their job is to create a shortlist of pages that may need a title test, rather than pushing for a site-wide rewrite.

⚡ QUICKIES

➡️ The gap may be evidence, not another article

AI makes it easy to make a page look as complete as everyone else’s. But looking comprehensive is not the same as giving a buyer enough information to make a decision.

Instead, ask what proof or practical answer the buyer needs before they trust the claim. If that information is sitting in support tickets, sales calls, or product documentation, another competitor summary probably won’t uncover it.

➡️ Traffic is not the finish line

An SEO report can look great while the pipeline tells a different story. Put traffic next to the outcome that actually matters: qualified leads, demos, proposals, or revenue.

Find Your Growth Leak

Quick plug, because this sits right in our lane. Scale on Steroids finds the visibility leaks between what buyers search for and what your pages actually prove, then fixes the highest-value ones first.

🛠️ THIS WEEK’S AI ARSENAL

TypeSafe AI

TypeSafe’s Jev is designed for software decisions rather than general chat. It returns typed answers with a confidence estimate, helping you decide when a workflow can act on its own and when it should hand the task to a human. Start with something low-risk, such as classifying incoming leads, and decide your review threshold before you begin.

Patter

Patter is an open-source SDK for putting an AI agent on a real phone number. It supports calls, transfers, voicemail detection, recordings, and a testing loop. Start with a narrow inbound task, such as booking or routing, and make the human handoff clear from the beginning.

📋 Mini-Playbook: The Search Click Waste Test

Search Console gives you enough information to build a useful shortlist. But changing a title does not automatically mean you have improved anything.

Google recommends looking at important queries with high impressions and low CTR. Average position is an average, so it does not guarantee where every searcher saw your result. Use the metrics as signals, rather than treating them like a magic score.

Step 1: Pull one clean window

Export the last 90 days from the Search results Performance report. Keep only the queries that are relevant to something you actually sell or solve.

Step 2: Build the short list

Look for page-and-query pairs that have meaningful impressions but disappointing CTR.

The goal is to find pages Google is already showing often enough that a stronger result could make a difference.

Step 3: Add the business column

Before rewriting anything, check your analytics, CRM, or call data.

A low-CTR page that is creating pipeline may be much more interesting than a page getting lots of traffic but producing nothing.

Use this small sheet:

PAGE | QUERY | IMPRESSIONS | CLICKS | CTR | AVG. POSITION
QUALIFIED LEADS / REVENUE | CURRENT PROMISE | SERP PATTERN | NEW TITLE TEST | RESULT

Step 4: Write a better promise, not a louder one

Search the query yourself.

What is the buyer actually trying to solve?

Write three title options that clearly explain what the page helps them do and why they should trust it.

Keep the title, main heading, and content aligned. Google can create title links using more than just the HTML title, including headings and other prominent text. Here is how title links are created.

Step 5: Test a small batch

Change five pages, not 50.

Record the date, then compare the next meaningful period with the previous one. Watch clicks and qualified outcomes together.

A higher CTR is not necessarily a win if the leads coming through are a worse fit.

Find Your Growth Leak

If you already have the impressions but cannot tell which pages deserve attention, that is a visibility diagnosis problem. We can look at the search demand, the proof gap, and the path after the click.

🎯 NEXT STEPS

  • Export 90 days of Search Console data for one commercial section of the site.
  • Choose five high-impression pages and add their qualified outcome alongside the CTR.
  • Test one clearer, evidence-backed title promise on each page

Stay weird,

Vaibhav

P.S. The next useful SEO conversation is usually not “how do we rank?” It is “what would make the right buyer choose us once we do?”
